BlueGriffon can help you design web pages. One of its distinguishing features is that it uses Gecko, the same rendering engine used by Firefox. Luckily, it’s a WYSIWYG editor, so you can actually see the results of any change you make in real time. Moreover, if you prefer so, you can also switch to code view and work directly on the source. The editor has a nice interface that comes with two themes.

An advantage of this application is that it supports practically every HTML version, including HTML4, XHTML 1 and HTML 5. Likewise, it allows creating CSS to guarantee your web pages are correctly visualized on any modern browser. Another benefit you can obtain from using BlueGriffon is that it has versions for all major operating systems, so you can easily work on the same project on different machines without the need to use another editor.

Although the application is open-source, its unlicensed version has some limitations, including the fact that its user manual needs to be bought. Similarly, some of the extensions require paying a small price. It was disappointing for me to find out that there were no templates available from the free version either. The full license of BlueGriffon is pricey at all.

In general, BlueGriffon is an excellent web page editor with lots of features. However, it doesn’t seem appropriate for beginners, which means that, to exploit its full potential, you need some experience in creating web pages.
